Adding Pendant Lights to the Kitchen


This project shows how you can add affordable pendant lights to your kitchen in about 15 minutes!!!  Remember when can lighting was all the rage! Everyone wanted them.  Now it’s just a bunch of hot spotlights flooding your kitchen with indirect light. 

Well here is an easy way to add some task lighting to your island or other area that you want to highlight.  No cutting holes in the ceiling or running wires! These pendant lights screw into an existing can light socket and cover a fixture up to six inches!

The first step was to unbox the light kits from Worth Home Products.  These lights were obtained from Amazon.com (https://amzn.to/3f5v7EQ)
 

The I jumped up on the island, removed the existing light bulbs 



Then installed the light kit adapters.


To set the height of the pendants, you wrap the cables around the provided handle on the adapter.


This is where I ran into my oly challenge on this installation. There are two different spacers included with the kit, a white ceramic ring and a metal stand-off. no matter which combination I used I could not get the metal stand-off to work and still have enough threads for the glass shade. So I gave up on them.


I installed the provided light bulbs.  Honestly another design or type would look better here, maybe an Edison Bulb or something with some shape to it.


Everything worked as advertised and the lights came on!
